Description

***The GAIA Soprano has been discontinued. Try the AMBIKA Soprano for that classic, dark, jazz tone***

The GAIA 4 soprano mouthpiece has a major upgrade!

The GAIA soprano series has been VERY popular, providing modern projection, along with the vintage large chamber sound.   The GAIA 4 updates this concept MUCH farther, with a completely new Large-Stadium Chamber™ and updated Shark Gill Baffle™ design.   It now has significantly more presence, similar to mouthpieces such as the Selmer Soloist, but with the full bodies beauty the GAIA has become famous for.   This is a major upgrade!

With the addition of the AMBIKA soprano mouthpiece, which truly captures the warm large chamber soprano sound, the GAIA 4 moves further into the full bodied core sound, which we hope you love as much as we do.

Jan Garbarek - TW Soprano Mouthpiece Square“And there it is! The soprano piece Ive been longing for all these years! It sings in all registers, pp – ff, in tune, open yet focused, and fat sounding like a sax should be. The GAIA soprano is stunning, and suits me perfectly!” – Jan Garbarek (Keith Jarrett, George Russell, Grammy Nominee, 31 Internationally Acclaimed Albums)

For decades musicians asked Theo for the perfect large chamber soprano mouthpiece.   He modified vintage Buescher and Slant Otto Link (among other) vintage mouthpieces.  Each of these had wonderful characteristics, but none were the ‘whole package.’ So Theo designed the GAIA series of soprano mouthpieces.  The feedback has been overwhelming relief from many players who finally found the mouthpiece giving them the sound they always desired, but didn’t even know it because nothing like has existed before!

“It’s the mouthpiece I’ve been looking for since I started playing the soprano saxophone. It’s absolutely incredible!!! Thank you soooo much!” – Professor Matthias Anton

Like all Theo Wanne™ mouthpieces, the GAIA 4 is manufactured with accuracy higher than any other mouthpiece, vintage or new, and uses the highest quality materials in its construction.  The GAIA 4 is truly revolutionary in bringing the vintage sound up to date both in design and construction.   It opens up the creative genius inside!

“Just got the metal GAIA Sop. LOVE IT!!!! It’s EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for… you nailed it. Endless thanks, gentlemens. I’m honored, humble and grateful!   It’s a really special piece, man. Lots of magic in there! Warm core, but the fatness and stability of metal. Gets as bright as you need if you push it. Just like the tenor Gaia2. Perfect match.  The intonation is nails on too!” – Ian Hendrickson Smith (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Roots)

“Before you even get your chops on this mouthpiece you can see it’s something special, with its gold insignia on the back, complete with the new Enlightened ligature. On its first blow I was immediately struck with a very responsive and pleasant core sound, a sound full of depth and tonal scope. This was also very consistent through the range. It has to be said that there aren’t too many very large chamber mouthpieces around, and of those that do exist, not many are this accurately made. There is also just the hint of a baffle in there and this helps to give the tone a slight lift and definition. This is the kind of mouthpiece that would appeal to experienced players who are moderately satisfied with their current set-up – give this a go and the chances are you’ll have found the answer!” – Jim (manager at the flagship store sax.co.uk)

“The GAIA soprano piece is OUTSTANDING!!! Very easy and smooth. Wonderful and versatile sound. Customers/players are coming back with the same type of feedback. All very positive. Sold my 7th GAIA this morning [in the first two weeks of its release. Nice addition to the product line!!! Please pass along my congratulations and thanks to Theo!!!” – Brian (sax-ccessories.com)

“And there it is! The soprano piece I´ve been longing for all these years! It sings in all registers, pp – ff, in tune, open yet focused, and fat sounding like a sax should be. I know this sounds pretty much like all the goals you set out to achieve, which means you succeeded. So, congratulations, great work, the GAIA soprano is stunning, and suits my needs perfectly!” – Jan Garbarek (Keith Jarrett, George Russell, Grammy Nominee, 31 Internationally Acclaimed Albums)

“Congratulations! When I contacted you I admit that I was a fearful that it wouldn’t live up to the hype I’d been reading online, but it gives me everything I was hoping for: a rich resonant core sound with plenty of edge when I want it. It plays well in all registers; I can easily get a nice sub-tone and have no trouble playing in the altissimo range. It’s great!   After playing it for just a few minutes, I knew that I could get just the sound I wanted.   Finally, the dynamic range is quite impressive. I can play pianissimo much more easily and evenly than I had been able to. And there’s plenty of power at the other end of the spectrum.” – Mark Miller (Professor of Music at NAROPA University)

“I could not be more impressed by the GAIA 3 soprano mouthpiece. My old buescher was a little challenging to play, but now, it’s really amazingly smooth and easy to reach every note… and what an amazing tone shift, it sounds like a more modern instrument now but still echoes the good ole days of trad jazz. Thank you!” – Alex (owner of www.peoplesmusic.com)

“I can’t find the right words to tell you how much I love the GAIA soprano mouthpiece. It’s the mouthpiece I’ve been looking for since I started playing the soprano saxophone. It’s absolutely incredible!!! Thank you soooo much!” – Professor Matthias Anton

I love the GAIA Soprano.  I knew right away that it would become my new number one piece.”  – Andrew Schumacher

“Got the sop mpc today. It is the best soprano mouthpieces I have played in the last 40 years. Thanks!” – Frank Battaglia

“You are a magician Theo! The GIAI soprano is just amazing. I get scared every time I hear you are coming out with new mouthpieces…it’s as if you have found a way to not only make great mouthpieces………but the best mouthpieces. I just can’t believe how good this mouthpiece is.” – Lu

“I can’t believe how good my GAIA soprano mouthpiece sounds!” – Joshua Osowicki

“I LOVE the GAIA soprano; Theo is the “Leonardo Da Vinci” of mouthpiece manufacturers. His genius knows no bounds!” – Nedo Carli

“The GAIA soprano mouthpiece  was tested  tues. in a real life acoustic situation at the union, no mics and just the “TRUTH” . The Gaia you gave me at the NAMM is a complete success! You have certainly made a great mouthpiece that should be seriously considered by all pro’s!  it is therefore a mouthpiece that will appeal to any saxophonist looking for a full, rich, quick responding tone and great air flow/resistance  for consistency throughout the octaves.” – Rick Keller

“I’ve been searching for a new soprano mouthpiece for quite a while and when I tried the GAIA it exceeded my expectations.  Very easy to play, and a nice full tone with lots of body.  Great work, Theo!” – Frank Macchia

“The GAIA soprano is absolutely AMAZING! As a pro player here in Germany I suffered from the idea that soprano playing is not for me. Now I can do things I’ve never dreamed of – altissimo on a soprano, wow! The sound is so flexible and the intonation so spot on, it just doesn’t feel like a soprano anymore. Thanks for making playing my little horn fun again!” – Thomas Bethmann

“The Gaia is a universal mouthpiece.” -Steve Dudek

“My soprano GAIA, I love it so much.. It makes me sound more like I play in heaven!” – Mr. Koh Saxman

“I bought the Gaia because I was playing so flat that I had to force my old mouthpiece as far as I could down on the cork. I was using so much pressure I was worried that I would damage the sax. I’m now playing in tune with the mouthpiece fitting easily on the sax, and it has the flexibility and response for a great sound throughout the range.” – Matthew C (theowanne.com review)

“Dynamics…ridiculously whisper soft to an actual roar!  Control…intonation is beautiful! Range…I get it all!   On this piece I can play altissimo above d4 with good tone and control. I don’t think I would do that in a live setting because of the risk of facial explosion, but I’m pretty sure on my next release there’s going to be a demonstration of soprano sax top tones.  I’m so glad I gave the Gaia chance. I’m very happy to have it.” – Larry Rauson

“I got my first GAIA over a year ago and it caused a crisis for me. It opened up so much more room for expression than I knew my Yanagisawa Elimona Soprano was capable of. Every horn I have has a Wanne mouthpiece. I particularly think the Gaias are masterpieces. I can’t think of one, I certainly have not played one better…ever.” – Larry P. Rauson Jr

“Today I play on all my horns on GAIA Mouthpieces, thank you all for making this happen. It is a great help for my performance not to struggle with the mouthpiece! Excellent work! It’s like converting my feelings into sound. Thank you, Theo!” – Kostas Kirkizotis

“I have just recently received a soprano GAIA from Theo and I am over the moon about it. To understand, I have been playing a Link soprano that was totally altered and customized for me by Theo over 10 years ago. I figured I already had the best Soprano mouthpiece on the planet. I was wrong. Now I have the 2 best Soprano mouthpieces on the planet. These are very open and play beautifully. I don’t think I could give this mouthpiece a higher recommendation. It seals perfectly, and responds in kind. It is not a mouthpiece for the faint of heart though. It could change your whole concept of what a soprano can do.” – Perry Conticchio (Sax On The Web Review)

“First bought a Theo Wanne Gaia Soprano mouthpiece a few years back and loved it. I then bought a TW Durga 9 tenor piece and had to round out my horns with a Durga 9 piece for alto. I had a love/hate relationship with soprano for many years. I got a lot of recording gigs from playing soprano but was never completely happy with any of the mouthpieces I used. As I mentioned in a review of the Theo Wanne Durga tenor mouthpiece, I often felt that my tone was more “piece” and not enough “me”. I’ve found this to be completely the opposite with Theo Wanne mouthpieces and feel that I can perfectly express myself. The Gaia is a very different mouthpiece to the Durga pieces I play on alto and tenor but it retains many of the same overall qualities that are the hallmark of Theo’s pieces: great intonation, very even response over the entire range of the horn (including altissimo), full core sound, very free-blowing and the ability to play warm and lush subtones one moment and then screaming the next. The included Enlightened ligature is excellent and as with the built-in Liberty ligatures on the Durga pieces, players have the option to change the metal pressure plates. Some players don’t believe that ligatures make much difference to sound or response but I disagree….I bought the Theo Wanne pressure plate set and have settled on 3 different metal plates on each of my horns due to the difference these make. I highly recommend trying a Theo Wanne mouthpiece if you get the chance. I was very surprised when I tried my first TW piece at how it felt and sounded….I wasn’t expecting something so markedly different than anything else I’d played before.” – Gary Mulholland (WWBW Review)

“I just wanted to let you know that the GAIA 3 soprano and tenor sax mouthpieces both exceeded my expectations and I am extremely happy with them. A rare bright spot in an otherwise tough year.” – Gregory Balas

“On soprano I had the original GAIA, which was good! I wanted a backup piece though for Soprano and got the GAIA 3. Extremely happy as there was a big improvement over the original Gaia. Funny that before I actually bought a soprano sax I bought the original Gaia mouthpiece, I don’t think I would have enjoyed playing soprano without it. I know that some people feel that upgrading is not worth it , but Theo is truly and expert with mouthpieces and is always looking to improve his designs. Thank you Theo, you’re great for my growth as a musician, but your mouthpieces are hard on marriages 😉 I try to make sure my wife never finds out how much I spend on your Mouthpieces.” – Michael McGlynn

“Really enjoy the centered sound and flexibility in volume with the new Gaia 4. I use it now on soprano and tenor and wish I had purchased one for alto, as well.” – drtunes
