Our Revolutionary True Large Chambers

A Hallmark of Theo Wanne™ mouthpieces is our True Large Chamber.

This difficult to make feature can be seen in the following models: AMBIKA, GAIA, SLANT SIG, DURGA, and SHIVA.

WHAT IS A TRUE LARGE CHAMBER?

True Large Chamber mouthpieces have an obviously  larger chambers than the bore. This is done to allow the sound wave to spread width-wise in the mouthpiece  enhancing the ability to create a robust, rich, and warm sound.

ROUNDED INNER SIDE WALLS

Many True Large Chamber also have rounded inner side walls. This allows the baffle to open naturally into the large chamber.  The sound wave hence spreads width-wise in the mouthpiece, creating a fuller sound.  Think of how a megaphone works.

TRUE LARGE CHAMBER TYPES

Traditionally only the True Large Chamber chamber type to the left has been made.   However, Theo Wanne has advanced this design, also making the ‘Inverted Power Ring and the ‘Shark Gill’ Chamber.

MACHINING A TRUE LARGE CHAMBER

Because a True Large Chamber interior is significantly larger than the bore, machining tools cannot easily access a True Large Chamber.

We also want to create beautiful organic Rounded Inner Side Walls as well.  Again, this is very difficult.

This is why many other machined brands use a medium chamber, as it is easy to get tooling inside through the shank.  In fact, the bore and chamber are the same thing in a medium chamber.

We fully CNC-machine a huge chamber with fully rounded side-walls though.  This creates a mathematical (i.e. exact) cone from the tip all the way up to the chamber. This is a true innovation in the world of CNC mouthpiece manufacturing.

THE RESULT

Incredible sound, as good as the original model.

Consistency of traditionally difficult to make parts.

True cutting edge innovation.
