Tom Keenlyside

“Everything about these mouthpieces feels good.”

Everything about these mouthpieces feels good.I play both Gaia and Durga models, and they are both a gas up and down the horn!! Depending on the musical style, either mouthpiece is fantastic for just about anything. The Gaia piece is great for blending in a section and big band work in general, and the Durga is a fire-eater in the R&B realm…incredible projection!

I’ve spent over fifty years recording and performing on the saxophone with a hugely diverse bunch of musicians and entertainers in all genres, notably, in no particular order: Dizzy Gillespie, Tom Jones, Natalie Cole, Phoebe Snow, Don Costa, Mel Torme, Diana Krall, Alexis Boro, Jay McShann, The,Temptations, Lew Tabakin, Pat LaBarbara, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, David Foster, Dionne Warwick,VEJI, Jann Arden, The Hard Rubber Orchestra, Ingrid Jensen, Michael Buble, Harry Connick, Noah Preminger, Gord Downie, K-OS, Chaka Khan. I’ve also composed music for many television series, mostly animation, including music for DragonballZ, Megaman NT Warrior, and many others

Q:What is your internal experience when you feel REALLY connected to the music?
A:When playing with people with whom I share common musical values, playing music is as intense an experience as I can get…completely uplifting!

  • I took a degree in music at the University of British Columbia, majoring in flute. I also played sax at various nightclubs and dives at the same time, which was an equally valuable experience.
